Limar has partnered with California's Axiom Race Team Cycling-Club for the 2021 race season. The team is stoked to wear some of the highest performance helmets in the world. For racers and riders all over the world, spring training camp is a chance to shake off the winter rust, get their fitness back up, challenge themselves, and have a great time with their teammates. During their spring training camp in Palm Springs, we asked Axiom's Chris McDonald to write a few words about a typical day at camp. Enjoy!
Another day... another mile...
After finishing my first meal I quickly went over my bike to make sure everything was okay and ready to go.
I met up with some teammates to load everything into the team truck. A lot of our teammates met us in Palm Springs this time, so we opted out of taking the AXIOM bus.
When we arrived at the meeting spot, we suited up, loaded our jersey pockets with nutrition and filled our bottles. I loaded my bottles with Inspired Nutraceuticals “AMINO” Malibu Breeze flavor, which helps aid in hydration and replenishing any lost electrolytes. I also packed a small bar and a couple of Gu’s.
We started by spinning for the first 10 miles, taking into consideration which direction the wind was blowing. Although it was warm, it was quite windy. We got on a nice flat open stretch of road and decided to ramp it up. Each of us taking a pull into the headwind, stronger and faster than the previous teammate. We all loved the fast-paced grind! Next, we found some open farmland, with flat smooth roads. The sprinters of the group, including me decided to make some hard, fast efforts. We were about 35 miles into our ride, a great way to test the legs after some decent riding.
At about mile 47, we stopped after a small climb to refill bottles and eat some nutrition. We got moving again and suddenly, I felt a puncture and then my tubeless tire sprayed liquid all over me and everyone behind me. I had never gotten a puncture on my tubeless tires before. We pulled off to let it seal for 2 minutes and then we were on our way to finish strong, circling back to where we started after 60 miles.
Great ride with a great team. All of us wearing our beautiful Alé AXIOM Kits, Limar Helmets and DMT shoes. We had a great ride, we bonded, and cannot wait for our next adventure.
